There are so many great things about being newly engaged...
Firstly- I now have this impressive piece of “bling” on my finger!
Secondly- It’s a major perve deterrent! I don’t even have to open my mouth anymore. The old codger stealing a sideways glance, on those rare occasions when my fiancé (I’m milking that one too!) is not accompanying me will just get my hand in his face. Even if the sanctity of my impending marriage doesn’t bother him, he knows he’ll have a lifelong scar if I decided to punch him in the face!
Thirdly- There’s the comparisons. The “Oh, you’re engaged? Let me see your ring” and I can’t say I’ve had a single person who was unimpressed (except my oh-so-hilarious Uncle, who admitted he was using a standard piece when he said “It’s the thought that counts!)
The whole impending wedding stuff is scary, mainly from a financial perspective but I know it’ll all come together and the planning is part of the fun. I was so excited when we paid the deposit on the venue, no turning back now!
Dress shopping has begun, starting with a major veto on my intended tagging along. Apparently, he’s not even allowed to see it until the big moment… I’m skeptical as to whether I can manage that!
It’s also so nice walking into fancy bridal shops and being treated like royalty! No Pretty Woman moments for this young lady!
Then there’s the fact (now butt out if you hate the mushy stuff) that I am now that much closer to marrying the love of my life, my best friend and confidant. Being engaged has made what was already such an amazing connection, feel like the most intimate and precious secret in the world, that only the two of us can share.
Nothing will make me happier than the day I stand beside him and say “I do”!

You talk of perv's, but apparenty when word got out that she did break up with him her phone ran hot with calls from 'people' trying to catch her on the rebound.
